FAQs

What is RPL?

RPL stands for Recognition of Prior Learning and it is a process that allows you to receive credit for subjects or relevant work experience you have already completed.

Who can apply for RPL?

Anyone who has completed prior study or gained relevant experience (e.g. formal education, professional training) can apply.

When can I apply?

You can apply for a RPL at the time of admission into your course at Kaplan Business School.

What documentation do I need?

You will need to provide certified copies of certificates and academic transcripts, and subject outlines that include course and subject learning outcomes, weekly structure, topic list, assessment details, and contact hours/student workload. For work experience, you will need to submit a written statement, a resume, employer references and other supporting evidence. Please refer to our RPL checklist and RPL Policy.

Do you accept overseas qualifications?

Yes. In some cases, credit may be granted for qualifications completed outside Australia. To be eligible, the qualification must have been taught and assessed in English and be deemed equivalent to the relevant Australian standard.

How much credit can I receive?

The amount of credit depends on several factors, including the similarity between your prior studies or experience with the KBS course content, the level of study completed and how recently your prior learning was achieved.

How long does the RPL process take?

Once your RPL application is completed and supporting documents are received, you will typically be advised of the outcome within 10 business days.

STUDENTS

'At KBS, it's not just about studying; it’s about belonging to a community where staff truly care, where students support each other, and where you’re given opportunities to grow. I would recommend Kaplan to anyone who is looking for an education that goes beyond the classroom and builds you as a person.'

Hamad Kaleem, Pakistan

Bachelor of Information Technology

'At KBS, my lecturers are not just academics but are also people working in the industry or running their own companies. They can explain the theory and then provide real-world insights and practical applications of what we learn. The classes are small, which gives me opportunities to have a connection and open dialogue with my lecturers, which suits my learning style.'

Suzana Skroch, Brazil

Master of Business Analytics

'KBS offered hybrid learning with the curriculum delivered through interactive workshops and practical assessments. I found the teachers to be very experienced, and the content enriching and well-referenced. One of my tutors accepted to mentor me, giving me valuable career advice during my job search and internship experience. I have found KBS to have a warm and open approach that few universities, in my experience, had ever shown.'
